Yeah, that would have been a nightmare. Amusingly that was pretty much my first thought when reading the article “how can this work, you’d have to be winding back and forwards, etc...” and then I remembered, no wait, we live in the future, its all digital playlists now. I thus decided it would probably be fine!

As a D&D fan I feel obliged to point out that Castle Ravenloft isn’t in the Forgotten Realms. It looms over the land of Barrovia, a region of the Demiplane of Dread (which in term drifts throguh either the Etherial plane or the Shadowfell depending on edition). Barrovia was once located on a prime world, before being

Yes, I agree with you. Sorry for any confusion, sometimes things need to be said outright, rather than implied when writing posts on the internet, since its so easy to accidentally assume an adversarial stance.

Technically neither of them actually outranks the other. Vader is the supreme commander of the imperial military (at least by empire, I’m not sure whether this was true in a new hope or not), so is answerable only to the Emperor. That means that in theory all of the officers on the Death Star are outranked by Vader.

“Oh, you saw A New Hope and thought Darth Vader was the big bad guy?”

The great thing about Uhura getting to finally take command is that after that episode they had stock footage of her in the captain’s chair, so she started to have the bridge in ordinary circumstances too, and not just special “oh no the.ladies have to be in charge” episodes!

True, I was just surprised that they were skipping over that and going straight to a book that’s not out yet.

Are we getting a film adaptation of Artemis at some point? I seem to recall it being discussed back when the Martian was becoming a mega hit, but have heard nothing since.

I think on balance I disagree. While there is merit to what yiu say, both Discovery and Picard have been very arc driven, with almost complete focus in their main storylines. What they have really lacked is time to breathe, and the odd planet of the week episodes that are a large part of Treks heritage. In Disco ‘s

Its worth noting though that they are generally shorter series. Back when we had DS9 and Voyager running concurrently we were getting a 24 episode series of each. With the shorter 10-15 episode runs we’re getting these days, we arguably need more series in production in order to get the same volume of Star Trek on TV.

Ok then. Time to fan cast Dr Boyce, Lt Tyler and Yeoman Colt!

I want one.

Actually Han was only promoted to General when planing the Endor mission in ep 6. His title of captain in empire is never a military rank, but rather because he was captain of the millennium falcon. Luke remains a Wing Commander throughout Empire and Jedi, not having had a military rank before that for obvious

Yes. I’m quite looking forward to them, and will be interested to see where they go next. The first movie may not have been perfect, but it was solidly enjoyable. It had a fairly formulaic story, but the planned series should give them the scope to expand beyond that, and tell more ambitious stories in what remains a

Has he though, or is that a James Cameron sponsored clone? We all know they’ve got enough money.

My theory about the delays is that Cameron is such a perfectionist that he insisted they film on location on Pandora. Six years there, maybe a year or two for the shoot, and they are currently still in cryo on the way back. I mean, has anyone actually seen Sam worthington recently?

Enterprise is a tricky one. The picks for season one and two are quite good. However season three is very serialised, so in some ways the only way to really get the most out of it is to watch all of it. That’s not a bad thing, as its where enterprise gets consistently good, rather than having a mix of good and bad

You need to mention the John Hurt War Doctor series too! Some great episodes un there. They are doing a War Master series now too, which i should really check out...

The series is the canonical adaptation as far as I’m concerned. It was great, and really captured the spirit of the books. The only thing they should keep form the in name only 80s film is its theme tune, which the sci fi series in fact ... Did!

I don't think they got it deliberately wrong, they were just trying to skirt around the sooilers, and not give away the twist.
