@virgilstar: Thanks for the link, that does look helpful. Two notes: 1) it's for air travel, but the main page links to other info, and 2) [mtrvl.com] seems to have more information/airlines than the page in your link.

@copperisblue: In that case, perhaps the article is wrong, and it should say cut and paste instead.

A few people have already noted that this is cutting, not copying, at least in Word 2003 and 2010. Is it possible that it copies only in Word 2007? If so, some clarification in the article would be appreciated. Thanks.

@Mickets: I have the same problem with my copy of Word 2010 — Ctrl-F3 cuts instead of copies, but using it repeatedly does allow multiple selections (cuts) to be pasted back together via Ctrl-Shift-F3.

@Talthybius: I've read that Palm's webOS is very good — see for example [bit.ly] (from phonedog.com) or [bit.ly] (from knowyourcell.com) . As I recall, it received very good reviews when it was initially released, but I don't exactly track the news in this area. I like Palm and have used their devices for a long

When you get an extra DVD like this, Netflix says you're supposed to return two DVDs in order to be sent your next one — that eliminates the extra DVD and sets you back to your normal plan, so it makes sense. However, I'm normally watching series of DVDs, and when I return only one in an extra-DVD situation, I

@theorracle: Yes, that image shows the idea a bit better. If you're on a 3 DVD plan, return one of them, and your #1 DVD isn't available, then Netflix will often send you #2 from your queue and then #1 later, resulting in 4 DVDs (one above your plan) at home. While a + is used to indicate that you have an extra

I like MetrO ([metro.nanika.net] for public rail system routes. It's available on many platforms (not just iPhone and Andriod, like many things nowadays seem to be), has loads of cities worldwide, and while it doesn't have maps, it does show you how to get from one stop to another when you select your starting and

@danmargri: Thanks for the info on your experience. In my case, the Google Apps account I have is a work one, given to me by my employer. I want this to remain separate from my personal Google account (which has a different user name, so I think it should). I guess if my non-conflicting accounts won't be merging,

@Duncan Sample: Thanks, I kind of thought that's what would happen, and agree it wouldn't be good for every user to have a +personal after the transition. It might have been a little clearer if they somehow mentioned that non-conflicting accounts don't change after the transition though.

This sounds interesting, but it seems to emphasize what happens when you have regular and Apps accounts with the same user name. What happens if you don't? Since the image only shows conflicting (same user name) accounts in the "After the Transition" block, it's not obvious to me what's happening with

@tylerwillisofarcadia: You beat me to it. :) I was going to say the same thing. I've heard that using tweezers can cause you to squeeze more venom out of the stinger. It's better to scrape the stinger out instead, as you said.

Wow, I didn't expect a majority of readers to feel guilty about taking vacations. I don't feel guilty. It's my time and time I earned, it's there for me to use, to get away from work for a while and relax. I spread out my vacation time and take advantage of being able to do as little as I want for those periods.

As others probably said, different things work for different people. When I work from home, I wear casual clothes, but I don't dress up much for work anyway, so it's more like jeans and a T-shirt rather than Dockers and a polo shirt. I also generally reboot my computer before I start work, which is a way I signal

Doesn't this only work well if you touch-type, so your fingers are in basically fixed positions all the time? Not everyone does that (I don't), so this might not work as well for them.

I've been wondering (again) about Gmail's mute feature. It seems to cause new mail in a conversation to be archived, skipping the inbox, but leaves the messages as unread. However, if my interest is low enough to want to mute a conversation, I don't really care about new messages to it. I'd prefer that new mail to

I regularly get my taxes filed early, typically sometime in February. I never liked waiting until closer to the deadline. I figure the sooner I do it, the sooner it's done for another year, and the sooner I'll get my refunds.

Yes, I do typically carry some business cards with me, even though I don't often need them. I'm never sure when a connection can be made, and I want to have cards available should an opportunity arise.

It doesn't seem to be working for me, but I'm using a laptop and touchpad. Does this tip only work with a regular mouse?

@jeffk: I think it depends on how the add-ons/extensions are coded. As I understand it, they can have a maximum version number with which they are compatible. If this is present and lower than the version of Firefox you're installing, it can cause problems. There are ways to get around it though. I think the MR
