Believe me, its rare I'm the one doing the fact giving on here. Usually I feel like the one who knows nothing.

Hard to tell by just the HUD what the actual pilot was seeing. Wouldn't be too surprised if the actual carrier deck was superimposed somewhere on the instruments, or at least the displacement between the plane and the carrier, in real time.

Depends if one could see the lights of the carrier through that mess...
