I can’t understand the tone of this article or most of the comments. Yours is the first reasonable one I’ve seen. What’s the problem here? Guys are being proactive about their birth control? Guys are talking to other guys and bonding over an experience in a fairly healthy manner?

Yes, this. The depiction of people with EDs led me to believe for a long time that if I wasn’t dangerously rail thin, I didn’t have a problem or, worse, that I wasn’t good enough.

I think the problem is that all these ED movies feature rich white girls. Marti Noxon and women like her can’t be the only people who are willing to tell their stories.

Yes! Obesity is most often the result of an eating disorder. But sad skinny people make for better entertainment or something.

I’ve never seen any of these films (my age and my unwillingness to be triggered has prevented me), but I really wish there were more movies that talked about diet culture and how it leads to EDs.

I’d love to see a movie about an eating disorder affecting someone who doesn’t look like their being affected by ED. I don’t think most people understand that you can be fat and be bulimic.

I have been talking about it all morning. It’s irresponsible of her to post that to her millions of young fans who won’t understand it’s not real. Now theres a whole slew of women who think this is achievable and normal and that they are somehow less if they don’t look this at 4 weeks postpartum.

No, that’s not it. What’s upsetting is the portrayal of supporting brown characters as stereotypes. No one is upset that Kumail ended up with a white woman - we’re upset that his only other choices were presented as jokes or as comically one-dimensional characters.
