I think the Dog should get shot, but it's still alive, still fighting to protect your character. Your character yelling "No, boy! Stop!" But it does not listen. It eventually resorts to crawling towards the bad guy, but the bad guy kicks it away, and points the gun. You get a button prompt, and than your character…

It's possible. Every starter has a very small chance of being a Shiny, which is why you have to reset so many times. Same with Legendaries. And I'm pretty sure with wild Pokemon, all the odds are the same. It takes helluva long time, though.

Okay, that's a load of crap. Yoshi's Story was marketed at kids, for kids. Like an easier more accessible version of Yoshi's Island. I was one of the kids who played it, and it was my favorite game for the N64 next to Banjo-Tooie.
