IIRC in the first game if you somehow missed an asterisk holder, you can fight them later on when you [spoilers redacted] so you should be able to in the second as well, if the other similarities (battle system, locales, encounter slider, etc) were implemented as well.

It may have to do with the way the lighting is interacting with visible hair/cloth.

At current prices, a 580 is around $400, and an i7 mobo combo is around $400. Toss in case, OS, HD, etc. (I wasn’t including these), and it would be around $1100-$1200. If you need a monitor, add-ons, etc, then maybe $1500-$1600.
