I have a friend who did this in their house, and yeah it does look pretty good. To the point that I was almost like, “okay, maybe I shouldn’t be so snobby about color-coded bookshelves.”

I guess my biggest issue with this is that books in a series are often different colors and the idea of separating them breaks my brain a little.
For the moment (and that moment is very small and getting smaller) I’d give benefit of the doubt to the extent that if the discipline of the crew was really bad she may not have been able to watch everyone every second. I’ve worked with people like that and gotten burned, though not shot.
And for that statement alone, she should never again be employed as a firearms expert. Because it was her goddamn job to know, and someone was killed as a result.
I have seen not one minute of original Cowboy Bebop, but I am going to be watching the shit out of this because it looks delightful. I am also so happy to see John Cho get a lead role. He’s one of those actors I always, always want to see more of. And this is an extremely clever trailer.
like you say, it’s not meant to make people think it’s a newly discovered old film, it’s an aesthetic designed to elicit feeling (that you resent, apparently)
When I worked in a warehouse my quilted flannel top shirt was part of my daily uniform. Man, I loved that shirt.
Scarlett was 100% right to fight for her contract and this is a prime example of a woman in Hollywood trying to make sure she got the fair payment and treatment that any of the male Marvel stars would have gotten. I’m glad she won. The snark here is just “I’m annoyed by rich people” bullshit.
Yes, shame on Scarlett Johansson for... (*checks notes*) ...setting legal precedent that will protect other actors for years to come.
Scarlett is a known asshole, and yes she makes a lot of money, but that is beside the point. You’re literally making the same argument Disney made in this case (“Haven’t we paid you enough? Why are you being so dramatic”) which is pretty gross and not at all cute. This corporation is so used to getting away with…
Regarding Johansson: I’d rather she get paid than Disney. If workers don’t get the money, employers do. People seem to forget that part. Same goes for professional athletes.
Not sure I’m feeling the Scarlett snark. I know the website is only *supposedly* feminist but why the fuck are you undermining a woman standing up for allegedly getting screwed after signing a contract that said something else was going to happen?
When this happened she was pretty young and trying to get a bigger profile. Remember what happened to Megan Fox when dare out how she was treated by Michael Bay. I can’t under stand why Ratajkowski would rather act like it didn’t happen.
Thank GOD that Scarlett got her justice. Could hardly sleep over this, personally.
Why the derisive comments on Scarlett? She took on a huge corporation who slighted her from the money she was owed. Why aren’t we celebrating this instead of making snide comments?
Socialist Realism doesn’t have to be propaganda it could also be protest, Diego Rivera also worked in a social realist style, for example.
Also, a nitpick, the GI Bill wasn’t passed until a year and a half after the painting in question was made (in ‘42).
This article was all over the place. I had no idea what point was trying to be made. Americans in the 1800s celebrated the end of a harvest which would mean bountiful food through the harsh winter when most people had to grow their own food? But that was bad and made up. Now most Americans don’t grow their own food,…
Decorating things with the dried remains of corn was a thing before ‘corn’ ever referred to maize.
I feel really genuinely bad for you. This especially did it:
“[Martha Stewart] also normalized the idea of fall decor to celebrate the season itself by treating pumpkins and corn husk wreaths like decorations.”
