As an Asian person I would like to say how frustrating it can be to tell people, yes we experience racism. And they’ll be like well you guys are so smart! And you’ll be fine.

I despise what they have done to Captain America. They have destroyed the basis of the character, which was rooted in empathy, loyalty to worthy ideals, a drive to protect those who needed aid, and a shared hope in troubled times. All in favor of what, shock value? And at a time when we need a voice of decency.
I am upset also. Not only did they recast Mowgli as a girl, they recast all the wolves as monkeys. I hate this reboot.
This is a beta-test for Ivanka’s national child-care program
I just had a pap test come back positive for one of the “unspecified” strains of HPV. The best part is that I haven’t had sex in four years. I wish I could have been vaccinated. When I was of the appropriate age, it was still brand new, and the FIRST of the three shots cost me $1200. WITH insurance. My poor…
So if you want to communicate without worrying about US Spy Agencies just use sign language.
Yep! Hiring freezes cost more money in the long terms specifically for this reason.
Yeah, why would a spy agency need to be able to understand languages?????
There are conservatives who are as happy as pigs in slop because Trump is shrinking the federal government.
We already use “they/them” as a singular sometimes, when you don’t know the gender of a person you’re talking about. Like, “We don’t currently have a department head, but once that person is hired, you’ll be reporting to them.” or “Turn in the form to your teacher. Then they’ll give it to the principal.”
I don’t want to be contradictory or accusatory (so please don’t interpret my comment this way!), but the use of singular “they” has been a convention used within the English language since the mid-1700s.
I read it the same way. I’m struggling to even see an alternative meaning.
Well, that’s because it’s a pro-woman quote. It’s calling out the outrageous beauty standards to which women are held, which was affected by both Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce becoming major stars.
See I read that as the unreasonable standard that men are looking for in women. That of course doesn’t make my interpretation right, but that’s how I read it.
Yeah! Great point! There would have been NO difference for POC between a McCain/Palin administration and the one we got! Thanks for fuckin’ NOTHIN’, Tina!
Yeah! Great point!
No, passing on a double yellow is being an asshole. Swerving to intimidate and kill is [attempted (edit)] murder. Asshole is much lower on the scale.
Michael Bolton cares:
Really?
This drove me fucking nuts. Not only the gender/race divide you mentioned, but their wide-eyed innocence after the fact: “Well, yeah, she’s a woman. And he’s a pussy grabber. But... emails?”
