Oh cripes, and now I’m crying at my desk. I’m still expecting to wake up from this nightmare, but I keep pinching myself and nothing is happening. Except bruises.

I’m still with her.
God it hurts to see her
I’ve seen news stories that say he was wading and stories that say he was building a sand castle at the time. It’s unclear if he was actually in the water. Weirdly, the alligator attack came during my own trip to WDW with my niece and nephew and I can attest that those signs were practically nonexistent.
Those signs weren’t even the worst of it. Disney created these “beaches” all over their properties to make them feel like real ocean-side resorts. The Beach Club Resort had movie nights on their beach every few nights. Disney did such a great job “theming” the lake-front areas that you pretty much assumed the lakes…
The Disney alligator attack smugness was so bizarre. Like yeah, they posted a sign that said don’t swim but there’s a difference between “Don’t swim, you could drown!” and “You will get eaten alive by a fucking alligator.”
but honestly at the end of the day, peoplec said that shit about the poor parents who watched an alligator snatch their child at Disney.
Seeing that the parents of one of the teens took them to the Holocaust Museum even before sentencing makes me cautiously optimistic that this may work and it will be taken seriously.
In my county, back in the dark days of the late ‘90's, there was a thing called “Teen Court.” Underage jabrones who got caught doing dumb, non-violent stuff could choose regular family court or Teen Court, which was run entirely by teenagers (but supervised by a judge).
Letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, as per usual. Do I wish the lyrics of “Born This Way” were a million times less clunky/culturally off? Absolutely. Does it symbolize something real, something a big demographic still doesn’t accept, under the guise of a dance banger? Absolutely.
Uh, she sang “Born this Way”, are you familiar with the lyrics of that song? Did you also happen to notice the Vice President was in attendance?
I thought it was hilarious that repubs thought she acted like a “lady” because she wasn’t political. I’m over here thinking like, “fuck, you assholes don’t even listening to her lyrics at all!”
She sang “Born This Way.” She slyly stuck up for immigration rights while singing “stay” while hugging a Latina audience member. I mean, WTF do you want for someone who has to stay within the bounds of her contract for the most part? If she did more, she’d risk getting cut, and so she pushed it as far as she…
...she sang a gay anthem at the Super Bowl that affirmed the humanity of people who are LGBTQ, people of color, and people with disabilities. I thought she did pretty well.
Good point and you’re totally right. I know we aren’t some liberal utopia here but I always get surprised by stories like that.
Since we’re being fair, I’m not sure how many girls/women who want babies RIGHT NOW walk into a doctor’s office and say, “I’m interested in long-lasting, high efficacy birth control. Research has shown me that the following options are probably best for my situation ... what do you think?”
“...This is my second or third new doctor after the first few refused to believe that a woman my age didn’t want to be ready to make the babies RIGHT NOW.”
