One piece was hardly the first manga to use the style, and just because something has been around a long time does not make it good.

I am specifically talking about the Anime, as that is all I have seen. I know that it was a manga, and assume the manga was pretty good, or the Anime wouldn't have been made in the first place.

It's not unique, it's the soulless generic style that Anime had degraded into over the last 10 years.

One Piece is EVERYWHERE in Japan. You cannot walk into any store without seeing it, it's really ridiculous. The show itself seems pretty mediocre, it must have a great story, because the art, animation and character design are all atrocious.
