Sooo....this or a Velar? Seems to me that they’re both sitting in exactly the same place; not-German, more comfort than dynamism, killer interiors that aren’t like the inside of a sales rep’s washbag. In different ways I bet they’ll both do the practical thing better than their rivals as well. In Europe I’d say the

Now playing

Nissan has decided cute is out; they’ve gone down the same route with the Micra, no cuddly image anymore. And while to be fair the new model is much better looking than the old one, the advertising (here in Ireland and in the UK anyway) is terrible. I don’t know what they were thinking with this shit:

The droopy backside thing wasn’t just the CLS though; its a current Merc theme that pretty much puts me off every model. Its only fixed by picking the estate wagon version of any of the ranges, just as with the CLS. Unfortunately I hear they’re not going to replace the CLS Shooting Brake, which is a real shame.

So? You join the army you sign up for going to exotic places and killing people obeying the laws of the places you’re in. You weren’t conscripted.

London is full of 911s driving around at 5 mph. And once the enforcement comes in it won’t be avoidable. ANPR cameras well check your numberplate and if you don’t have the right rating a tow truck will come and find the car and off to the pound it goes. Even rich people don’t need that hassle.

...and inside the base, it does. Outside? Don’t be ridiculous. And the US gets benefits out of those bases that go far beyond its NATO obligations anyway.

Whether they are overly strict or not isn’t really anyone’s business but ze Germans is it? Their country, their rules, simple as that.

Lexus RX would start at a fair bit higher price than a Stelvio in Europe. Where I live it would be about €20K more expensive, but that’s partly because in Europe all those rivals would start with a 2.0 diesel and the Lexus only comes in V6 hybrid form. The NX would actually be the segment rival to the Stelvio.

Based on my experience you’d have to fight to get the loaner.

I thought Beaufighter when I first saw it (which would be a problem because it wasn’t in service - the first ones went on ops about a month after D-Day), but after another look I think its a Blenheim.

Here’s how it should have gone:

While its much less painful to watch than the previous season, its still not really doing it for me. There’s very little that I’ve seen that I would want to watch again a year from now (whereas I’ll still regularly catch old TG on Dave and still enjoy it), and I couldn’t really point to a stand out segment in this

HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT?!!!

I completely understand what Villeneuve is saying. There are racers who’ll race anything and do it for racing’s sake, and Nico Rosberg is not one of those people.

Good write up. My first car was a Spitfire 1500 (without those horrific federal bumpers thankfully), and one of the most useful features was just how easy it was to work on. My Dad pretty much taught me all I needed to know about engines and gearboxes with that car, and the accessibility made it the perfect

Wouldn’t have happened under Bernie. Also probably doesn’t hurt that Liberty are thinking of buying into IndyCar to broaden their US motorsports footprint.

No, it doesn’t have to be that way. The word is “regulation”, ideally, regulation with teeth. But that’s anathema in the US, which is why you have shit airlines and shit telcos.

Its got nothing on Termonfeckin

I’d agree with the entire list. Except the Giulia. Finally saw one for real the other day (in grey) and its much better in the metal than in photos. It’s a genuine looker. I don’t even understand what you’re on about with the bags-under-the-eyes thing.
