The statute of limitations running out does not imply that one is actually innocent of a crime. You are not a court. Just because it can’t be prosecuted doesn’t mean people should pretend there is no allegation.

mouseclicker, you’ve now dismissed (deleted) two of my good-faith replies to your original comment.

What the fuck? How far does your disregard for crimes of the past extend? Is murder from 40 years ago ok? Is there, like, a formula you can provide?

I think from your perspective you want the violent encounters to be less frequent so that they hold more weight, but from my perspective the frequency of the violent encounters is precisely what provides the weight.

Hi, mouseclicker.

It’s just so hard to tell exactly how to feel about the game other than fairly strong anticipation. So much we don’t know and haven’t seen still!

Huh? Who are you talking to?

“I’m going to kill. Every. Last. One of them.”

Personally, I think how viscerally intense and disgustingly good the combat feels in The Last of Us, especially in concert with the mixture of relief and discomfort in the moments immediately after surviving an encounter, serves to perfectly communicate and underscore the game’s themes.

Ellie’s story in this game, and really the story of survival in the world of The Last of Us, is really going to be about her killing the shit out of all the enemies. There might be encounters where you can stealth your way through some sections, but in order for the story to work you’re definitely gonna have to kill

I vehemently agree that there should be dramatically more games that aren’t built on violence as the primary form of interaction!

They did at first! For, like, a minute! Gravity Rush, Killzone: Mercenary, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice, and Freedom Wars were all varying degrees of sick.

Actually, gurfinki... Vita means life. *hides*

Red Dead 2 in October is basically the reason you’re having trouble thinking of other games coming out at the end of this year (though you’re forgetting a couple sizable ones.) Nooooo one wants a piece of that. That and games just get delayed a lot.

Strong disagree. That dark thrill that the combat in The Last of Us provides the player is completely tonally consistent with the message of the text. The thrill is the horror! The undeniable pleasure I feel when I swing a bat with nails in it into the face of someone who’s trying to kill me, and the way it sticks in

It’s confusing!

Luke said “and gay” as a way to emphatically celebrate its gayness! Not really supposed to be a joke, friend (except maybe a joke on homophobes.)

Luke said “and gay” as a way to emphatically celebrate its gayness. No homophobia present, friend.

Damn, your in for a treat.
