They just didn’t announce it too early. Alpha and beta versions of games come pretty damn late into development. Based on what everyone was saying, if you were plugged in, it was pretty clear it’d hit 2018.

I am perplexed at your being perplexed. It’s an exclusive Spider-Man game developed by Insomniac. That was it’s unedited gameplay debut. That was gonna get people hyped.
