I hadn't realized who was writing the article until I saw the Lancer with Star Specs on it. Props.

100% serious. Yeah, Jalopnik has its own set of issues, but it's nothing like the clusterf*ck of some other Gawker sites.

This is why I still come to Jalopnik and don't waste time on other Gawker blogs. Cool stuff that sometimes isn't related to cars, without the silly drama.

I take it you completely forgot about the VW GTI which had been out for years?

I've got three mk2s here at the moment, one of mine and the other two are my brother's. They're fun little cars, but not exactly reliable...

Was it a Mk2?

The 85-89 ball joint being different from 90-92 sounds suspiciously like a VW thing...

Now playing

Seagulls and cars don't really get along...

I have no idea why, but I love those sweater dress things.

Anything even remotely related to old exhaust stuff. Such a pain in the ass. Stupid exhaust parts in a very tight area made a simple steering rack replacement take 4 days since I only had so much time to work on it after work and school.

Hey a Mk2 16v engine! (Camshafts picture)

From what I've seen at local car meets... There's a few kinds of people, the people that want to be there, the people that are there to show off, and the people that were dragged there. I've seen plenty of either sex.

Tempting...

Ugh. Damn my glasses!

Ouch. I can go to Maple Grove for a total cost of under $50 for the night. The shitstain in the article could have done the same...

Good for you, you don't live in Philly where there are many drag strips within a couple of hours.

This is a big reason for me not really wanting to spend the money on a Fiesta ST. Screw MFT, it's a POS. I shouldn't have to take my eyes off of the road constantly to adjust things.

There are so many drag strips around here that are dirt cheap I don't know why you'd be a chode and race someone on a city street like that.

Sure looks pretty "meh" reading some reviews.

Truly atrocious. Look at that Nissan.
