Unrealistic superpowers make for better TV than unrealistic personalities.

I can’t speak for Rob, but to me the difference is that on The Flash, the characters may have absurd powers and backsrories, but they generally behave in recognizably human ways and make decisions that seem at least vaguely rational on some level.
