"Wait, I've seen this case before... It's an iPhone case."
Story is a little generic if you've played a lot of fantasy games or read a fair number of fantasy novels, but it's not bad. There is an end, though I feel that 40 hours in I am still a little far from it. There were a couple surprising twists in the story that kept it from being too boring.
Toons is an old slang with meaning of "your in-game character".
What GamerKT said. After playing the game, what specific mechanics fit that criteria of "awful...relics"? And if you haven't played the game and are just waxing poetic about awful, vestige game design you probably should have made that more clear in your post.
Are you gonna list any of these awful mechanics? Or just complain?
I've been playing this on my Twitch, as my friend and I did on release night.
It's just about the most fantastic thing for an old-timer like me that's come out in a good, long while.
I kickstarted it about five minutes into reading the pitch; these guys were making Morrowind 8 years before Morrowind was a thing, just…
A common line of thinking among modern video game fans goes something like this: Games have gotten dumber. Simpler.…
"Perhaps we're not putting enough skulls on things… we could license celebrity skulls."
I was thinking the same thing. Didn't the lady who model for the cover come out to say it was her and even showed her pay stub?

I really enjoyed this game, but stopped playing when they announced the servers getting shutdown. I wish we could play it offline without all the fancy online stuff.
Divinity: Original Sin!!!!! My god this game is awesome! I feel like I'm playing BG all over again, except it looks oh so much better, and the level of interaction with the world is something we could only dream of back in the day.
Ugh, no. The Last of Us is not that. Neither is MGS, but still.
The Last of Us was an okay game that had some really interesting characters. The story however, took weird turns when it didn't need to and took you places you didn't really need to go except to show off the environment. The thing that really made all…
Seriously the gameplay is the best parts of his games...
Metal Gear Solid is like the total opposite of Tom Clancy. Kojima does a lot of things that are comparable to Kubrick's style.
I'd say it plays the best, and has some really good bosses. It looks gorgeous and there's excellent polish and technically it's impressive. Just some sections dip.
I'm not sure to whom those rules apply. If someone attacks me and I fear for my life, I am not required to hit them with a stick before I pull a gun. I get to defend myself with lethal force the minute I feel my life is in jeopardy. I'm not going to wait and move up an escalating scale of weapons at the top of which…
In addition to rules of engagement, you have to acknowledge escalation of force. Violence is not an on/off switch that's set to either 'hug' or 'murder'. Generally, a combatant will only escalate combat to the lowest level at which he/she has an advantage. For example, if you are facing a much larger opponent in…
I guess I kinda glossed over the part where me hitting someone is supposed to drastically change their behaviour. In case it didn't come through between the lines, consider this revelation of getting them to act differently, way differently as one of my primary motives.
My biggest "I don't get it" about fighting convention is the "no nut shot" rule.
