Mercedeses from this era really were heirloom cars, in that you could pass one down through the generations, if the family was so inclined. It was a time when Daimler-Benz was ruled by a benevolent engineer junta that strove to make the best cars possible regardless of cost or margins and just trusted that the money

I mean, Ford CEO Mark Fields confirmed it was coming here. It doesn't get much better than that.

I think this pretty much sums up my reaction...........

Tilt your mirrors a bit farther out to cover your blind spots. Do you really need to see the side of your car at all times?

Also, you can just adjust your mirrors to see the blind spot.

My favorite blind spot monitoring system.

Is it me or does this thing look freaking HUGE? Look at the person inside.

And why did it take everyone so long to notice?

How #1 should have gone down:

which somehow allowed passengers to activate the brakes

Color me impressed - I had a 2001 Ram with the H.O. engine that made 245HP and 505 ft-lbs. The new V8 is up about 50 each HP and TQ, and down almost a full liter, and doing it cleaner and (likely) on less fuel.

Nah that's now how it happens. Clarkson explains it better

That's what was reported over the weekend by the website HorsepowerKings. They claim the upcoming hyper-'Stang — said to be the most track-capable street legal Mustang ever — lapped the 'Ring in just 7 minutes and 32.19 seconds back in September.

Let's remember that the Z/28's lap was done in partially wet conditions. I'm not saying 5 seconds worth, but over that distance it's possible. I'd love to see both cars taken on the same day by the same driver for some real car to car comparisons to be made.

also all of the factory wiring is gone the HVAC system is gone everything that would be under the dash is gone the airbags are gone the transmission is substantially lighter the exhaust is substantially lighter all of the environmental stuff is gone the windows are light weight plastic material the roof section has

Front seats at 50lbs per, back at 100lbs... I guess that's 200lbs right there. 'Course, then they've still got to have seats for the driver/codriver... Exotic materials... So 150lbs saved? It's crazy to think that there's over 500lbs of sound deadening material and plastic still left inside the car. Where the heck

Funny, this just showed up in my tumblr feed:
