To be fair, I am pro-science.....but I’m am concerned about the ethical issues with creating human organs in pigs. It does seem a bridge too far.

Not sure it is ageism directly. The fact that a business can hire 3 college grads at the pay rate that you would enjoy is more the culprit. You need to have one of two traits to make it as an older engineer.
1) To be so good at what you do that your employer cannot survive without you
or
2) Be willing to work for 1/3…

Spoken by someone who probably has not been in a factory? If you bend towards engineering, it is a very challenging and interesting setting. I’m sure there are still plenty of boring jobs working a line, but if you have an inquisitive mind and a decent public education, it’s a good way to make a living.
