I really want to explain the reference to the people who obviously missed it, but that would lessen the beauty of this comment.

ThinkPads are wonderful if you’re not gaming. That keyboard is incredible.

The guy’s a fucking immortal. He’s not trying to win. He’s trying to absorb the souls of children competing in tournaments around him. Oh he’s catching ‘em all.

Or darkish-tan? Whatever the color of corpses is.

This comment is beauty in its purest form.

Maybe six inches or so longer on the front so the side mirror is centered to maintain that arch.

I was really hoping he’d say “meatbags”. Was disappointed.

Why you no Sazabi, breh?

This is such an incredibly perfect representation of everyone’s Gunpla room/corner/dungeon that I had to laugh. I think the only improvement would have been some wrists failing to hold guns straight.

From what I’ve read, Otomo used the movie as a way to help him come up with the ending to the comic. It’s cool how the process works.

I agree as far as reading the source, though I think what the movie ended up being is exactly what Otomo wanted us to get out of it at that point in the story. That vagueness is abundant in Otomo’s animated works. I think he just likes it.

The script writer and director is also the author of the manga. This was by no means a “TV adaptation” since it had an 11 million USD budgets in 1988. The ending was a creative choice since he had not completed the manga at that time.

The thing about that is that the movie was scripted and directed by Otomo, who also penned the manga. Movie came out before the manga ended, so that was the ending he chose for the movie.

I can see the film being nonsensical for a lot of viewers. I happened to read the manga before watching it, and it’s missing a lot since it only covers the first third of the story.

Sure, it’ll be all fun and games until Paul Atreides shows up and ruins your day.

I fail to see how that’s a drawback. They could easily solve the kids-on-my-lawn and neighbor-that-won’t-shut-up problems too.

That’s why the Chinese have filled buns like these. Can’t let hunger break your stride.
