I honestly don't think it's gonna be a character-for-character remake, that'd be a little tasteless in my opinion. I would probably see it as more of a remake with whole different characters or a "passing-of-the-mantle" type scenario.

Hmmm, that beta seemed more like a demo to me. Technically, a beta is a full, code complete representation of the end-product. Gating off (I'm guessing) 90% of the game is not exactly conducting a beta test so much as it's a stress test for their servers prior to launch.
