Also, one of the best ways I've found to get news and info about WP8 is to install Weave newsreader (free) and select just Microsoft and Windows Phone for your feeds. There a lot of info updated daily and all in one place.

I absolutely agree. If the measure of a good OS is the quantity of apps rather than the quality then go with Android. Ten times the apps equals ten times the craps. Proof? Android.
WP8 is personal, fluid, and intuitive (by and large)
Thanks! I got a Lumia 1520 about four weeks ago when the 32gb was on special offer for $75 at ATT. I love it and I can't wait for 8.1 to arrive if everything I read is correct. I actually did kinda know about the squigglies in other apps but wasn't sure if it was every app. Some of the stuff in my post I discovered…

Lifehacker headline next week.
What is this "washing" everyone speaks of?
I also read somewhere but I can't find a relevant link, that researchers in the health field for example can use twitter to track the spread of viral infections and the like. I thought that was quite clever and not something that would ever have occurred to the developers who created twitter.
As in - what does it do that can't be done better elsewhere? Or - what can only be done on Twitter and nowhere else? I agree.
Or Maxthon for mobile which also has it built in and is better than Chrome.
There's a bit of a security issue with this method as it can be used to log in to a second account on the computer in the background without the primary user being aware. I saw a demo of this and I'm not clear how it was done - I think an extra extension was required. Suffice to say permission was granted to access…
I've been reading Amit's stuff for years; nice to know a bit more about him.
