Thank you. This is the story, and I’m really disappointed that it seemingly passed unnoticed by everyone associated with this post.

It’s especially powerful coming from her, considering the reaction of plenty of people to her casting was saying “but but but how am I supposed to be sad when she dies if she’s black?”

You seem to have missed the point of this post as a whole. We were asked for OUR stories of the 1st time we noticed male attention. For you to caution us all about how we view men or the concept of being checked out, or to say that the women in your life haven’t had similar experiences, is to miss the point. I know

Also “women’s bottoms” in a story that’s definitely about a little girl. No, Karyn.

There’s a sentence I sort of never expected to read!

Me too!

I don’t even think they “still” went for it. The underage aspect and/or making young girls uncomfortable was the appeal. Some men are predatory af.

*Just sending you telepathic hugs, or whatever you’re cool with.

Totally. I think it was made pretty clear that seeing her dad with the neighbor lady fucked Sally up A LOT. For a long time. Although we have seen Betty treat Sally horribly as a young girl, there is no real evidence of Sally suffering long term from any of it. Even the banishment of Gene was something she’s navigated

And I thought, once again, Sally would walk in. Oh my god that was so stressful. Once I remembered she was going on a trip, I knew I should relax about that but I could not!

I know this is not what the article’s about, and I support the joke in this thread, but given what we’ve seen since everything that happened in Ferguson was on Twitter...man, social media would’ve made a huge difference in the sixties.

She makes a lot of good points. Still, I don’t consider this an either/or situation.

Well now I want to incorporate ‘That’s worth NOTHING!” into as many conversations as possible. So you’ve given me something! Good luck with your homework.

Ah! Easy mistake to make :)

If that in your mind is the same thing as “that means we can’t praise her good deeds at all”, every language arts teacher you ever had failed you.
Do you realize this is an article about ultimately choosing one woman to go on the twenty?

What an astute reading of what I had to say!

You’re right that Eleanor Roosevelt had accomplishments far beyond the general concept of First Lady. But she did not have to risk her life every time she worked on those causes. That’s worth noting.

*ugliest possible cry
I want her to see it. I want her to have a wallet full of lady faces.

That is....just so proudly racist. And kinda fascist.

AND THEN says they’re just gonna leave these fuckup stamps in circulation, never fixing it, never circulating stamps with her actual writing on it.
