Especially because Wilson didn't even know. It had nothing the do with the shooting.

I'm glad he made the point about being treated like a human being. That needs to be in every discussion about Ferguson, Mike Brown, and all the other cases of unarmed black Americans killed by police.
People were slavering for an excuse to blame Mike Brown for his own death. He fought for the gun! He stole cigars! He,…
It's also important to speak to the use of all this gear to practice intimidation against the citizens who are demanding simple justice. So far none of the events in Ferguson have warranted this response from the police. The message from President Obama and all the way down to the local government is "Shhhhh. Just go…
The autopsy only mentioned that the head wound could have some from charging the officer, but the ME also said that could have been because he was "giving up". Not a particularly helpful or responsible statement either way.
Mind linking me to a statement from a witness that Mike Brown charged at the officer?
I think that here we are seeing the intersection of these distinct problems. But I agree that the militarization of police is a topic we can all comfortably deplore (except for a few sad individuals), which allows many white people to continue to duck the issue of anti-blackness.
If they do implement it, I hope you can opt out of it easily. I guess there are people who it would be useful for, but I enjoy the confusion in the rare occasions when I see it.
Or an algorithm that will not allow you to post a link unless you've looked it up on snopes first.
It's an emergency BECAUSE the police are incapable. It's the police, not the citizens, who need a curfew.
What the eyewitnesses have all said is that Mike Brown ran from Darren Wilson, and was shot at from behind, at which point he turned around, and got on the ground with his hands up, and Wilson continued to shoot. The autopsy is perfectly in line with the eyewitness accounts.
"He was shot in the back" is something…
I mean, I could have been clearer about why I posted that link. I find the part about the study with the pictures of Elmo and Cookie Monster truly fascinating. Personally I am more interested in learning about a broader range of language use.
I don't really care what anybody thinks about use of the dialect being correct. It is used and understood by plenty of people, and it is not for anyone to slap a seal of approval on it.
A less rigid adherence to grammatical conventions allows for more complexity and nuance of meaning.

Language is intended to communicate, and is constantly evolving. With two simple words "Stay woke" conveys the need to stay aware at all times, to reject complacency, and to be critical of information. It's not a mistake, it's innovation.
Your username is working overtime here. She is using the language as intended.
Also, did these people not go to school? Use your damn context clues!
The only emergency in Ferguson MO is the malice of the police force and incompetence of the government. Looting stopped for four nights, and picked up again the same day that they completely botched the release of Darren Wilson's name. The first target of the looters was the store they are accusing Brown of robbing,…
Sure. I think that it's clear that the time has come to address and overhaul how sexual assault is dealt with at all levels. It's a top to bottom disaster as it is.
I mean, no wonder he doesn't know what stuff is called. He never has to say anything!
Why did people begin applauding the minute he said "I believe"? He hadn't even begun to make a point. Even he looked startled.
Oh, I agree that it would be less of a conflict, and more appropriate to the seriousness of sexual assault, to treat all of them as a criminal matter. I was more focused on the "why is it so hard to implement" part.
