This worries me too. When I was a kid I insisted on keeping mementos of almost everything- I had a shoebox with stuff like scraps of fabric from furniture or old curtains that my parents had thrown out or a piece of a favorite mug that broke. I even had a chip of rust from our old car. I've mostly switched to saving

I don't think you're a bad person for only being attracted to certain types of bodies. But if you can't accept that going out in public means seeing people you personally consider unattractive, or if you think that people you find unattractive have a responsibility to dress differently or to avoid public places, then

Be glad you haven't yet encountered the wannabe scotch drinker. There's nothing funnier than a group of college bros, all of whom hate scotch, pretending to like it for fear of losing their 'man card'. Except possibly a group of otherwise non-smoking dudes puffing away on drastically overpriced cigars, struggling not

It's definitely not just you, especially if you're using some kind of iDevice. Kinja on my ipad thought that "not just you" should have been "nit juicy".

My experience has been the same as the other commenter- it's just like picking up any other drug at the pharmacy, except you don't have to pay. If it's worrying you, maybe call the pharmacy and ask them before your doctor's appointment?

Insurance is offered as part of a compensation package though- it's something the worker earns. My boss can't tell me what I may and may not spend my paycheck on, why should he get to determine what my insurance plan covers? It's not as if insurance plans that offer contraception are more expensive than ones that

That's awesome. Deeba was the name of the cat my aunt had when I was little- any Bulgarian profanities are completely unintentional. Though now that I think of it, "fuck it" does sum up that cat's personality pretty well...

I was definitely a body-unaware teen. One of my teachers had to pull me aside and point out that, while I was getting significantly taller, my skirts were not. I'd checked that all my clothes met the dress code before I bought them and then didn't give the dress code another thought, even when a growth spurt made all

I didn't know that, so thanks for the info! I used OKCupid when I was single and might have switched to POF if I knew they had good filters. I guess if the age gap ban isn't in response to some customer demand, maybe the owner of POF is just uncomfortable with having the site used for hookups.

I'd rather have the ability to filter out who can message me than have a dating site decide for me. It seems like it would be fairly simply to set it up so people could decide who they want to get messages from, whether that's by age, sex/sexual orientation or location.

Agreed. I was fine with articles that mocked people who put hateful stuff in their profiles or messages, but this is just mean. It's a big world and many of the people who live in it enjoy types of music and fashions and hobbies that I do not enjoy. That does not justify mocking their tastes. And somehow I suspect

I am not a very fashionable person, but I am just not comfortable wearing anything less than jeans and a tee in public. I'll change out of my sweatpants to go the laundry room in my own apartment building. It just doesn't feel right to me, even though I never notice or care when other people wear yoga pants or pajama

I think that's less about looking sloppy and more about safety- you shouldn't wear synthetic fabrics in a lab (or when working with any kind of heat source) because they could melt and burn your skin off. Natural fibers, like denim jeans and cotton t-shirts, are a LOT safer in the lab.

It says any of the white ones with a red wig, or at least, it says that now. Did the author edit it after you commented?

If you click the link, they mention that this pattern persisted until about the 1920's or 1930's and then stopped, which seems to suggest it was caused by cultural or environmental factors, not evolution.

Maybe they mean the first instance of trading goods for services, as opposed to bartering goods for other goods? A farmer who trades grain for wool isn't really being paid by the shepherd.

Seems to be a stock photo. It's possible that a famous actor did stock photos before landing a big role, but it's probably just a coincidence. And just for future reference, Gawker sites usually put the photo credit at the bottom of the article, right above the comment section.

It happens. Especially in places where young folks don't have a lot to look forward too- kids who've been told all their life (either explicitly or by observing the adults around them) that adult life is just a series of dead end jobs and crushing poverty. There's not much incentive to wait if you think that your life

That quote about her ex is just sad. I had the opposite happen- my boyfriend never saw me in eyeliner until we'd been dating about a year. When I did put on eyeliner one day for a lark, he got SUPER weird, all day, until I mentioned having done a new makeup look. Turns out he just thought my eyes "looked strange" and

There is a clear line between compelling businesses to carry certain products and prohibiting them from turning away customers based on membership in protected classes. No one wants to sue women's clothing stores for not carrying men's clothing, for instance. They only break the law if they refuse to sell a dress to a
