Dan Savage did a fantastic piece on this, pointing out that it’s either outrageously hypocritical, or it exposes the fact that conservatives don’t really care about unborn babies—what they really care about is policing people’s sex lives (and women’s bodies):

This is something that is so weird for me. I recently came upon a restricted diet (lchf) that really works for me. I lost 125 pounds, I feel amazing mentally, and that is awesome. That said, I don’t think it would be amazing for everyone. Everyone is different, our bodies and DNA have a wide spectrum of needs and

I sometimes see “At least religion is dying out!” under articles about crazy religious stuff.

Fellow atheist here (technically an atheistic ecclectic pagan, but that just confuses people so I go with atheist). I was thinking “Hey, this makes sense. I dislike/and highly critical of religion. I’m also critical of/dislike diets. Must be my atheist-ness showing.” I can lose weight though. I used myfitnesspal.com

In my religion, a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake are one of the sacraments.

I’eve never thought about diets this way but it makes total sense. Is that why I can’t lose weight? Can I blame my atheism?
