Came here to note that also. I was genuinely surprised the article didn’t mention this extremely important legal distinction, especially since it was only 4 years ago.

Easy trick to avoid cutting the quick: bend their claw below their pad. The quick will be just about even horizontally with their pad and you can mostly cut off everything that’s below the pad.
RIP GB, gone to join the likes of Joystiq, 1UP, and so many others I’ve enjoyed over the years.
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
You’re correct, except note the parts I highlighted.
Sure, but the problem with your screed was ignoring the fact
The threats and the rest are what’s ridiculous. Shutting down the project is within their rights, although it does make them look bad, but their method of doing it is despicable.
That is entirely true, and also entirely irrelevant. This has nothing to do with IP protection, it’s that Riot considers Chronoshift to be a threat to their business which they can shut down using facetious IP arguments, which the Chronoshift devs don’t have the time or money to take to trial.
This is anecdotal, so it shouldn’t be taken as proof because that kind of stuff is actually very important, but between social distancing, regular disinfectant, and mask wearing, this has been the healthiest year of my life. In particular, every year when my spouse goes back to teaching in the fall, she’ll bring…

Really hate these slideshow, click-baity things. Lifehacker didn’t use to pull this crap...
Are you saying Super Mario wasn’t a faithful adaptation of the original?
I don’t think it’s accurate to say “most gamers don’t play games for their story.” The medium forces changes to a narrative format; it similarly wouldn’t make sense to say “most gallery patrons don’t look at paintings for the story.” At best, a comparison might be to a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book or Black Mirror…
I am the embodiment of schadenfreude right now. I’ve got to go post this over at /r/thelastofus2 lol
Further proof that copyright is a completely broken and nonsensical system.
Just because they don’t “owe you anything” doesn’t make it any less dumb.
See, none of that is “the dumbest shit ever” — that’s all really bad stuff that causes serious problems, not just “dumb shit.” This RE demo thing is just dumb shit. Dumbest shit ever, IDK, but it’s pretty damn dumb.
The game very clearly showed how Abby’s journey mirrored Joel’s journey from the first game, and that is also exhibited, and should be felt viscerally by the player, as Ellie approaches Abby and Lev in the boats. Ellie doesn’t forgive Abby due to some action or behavior of Abby’s, Ellie finally sees herself in Lev to…

I only hope that Google and the carriers successfully make the feature as annoying to iPhone users as it’s been to the rest of us.
See, LifeHacker, these are the types of suggestions you need to be making!
