It worked itself out for Russia, they need to get over it. They now have a relatively easy path to the gold medal game in facing Finland then Sweeden (likely), this allows them to bypass both the USA and Canada (without a doubt the two strongest teams) until the finals.

I would prefer non stop OT's as well, but in the group stages is it that huge of a deal? I agree that in the medal round they should play until someone scores a winner though, would be a bit of a let down to see a gold medal come down to the coinflip that is a shootout...then again with that many games in that many

Counterpoint: you are wrong. A player being able to go as much as they want after the first three is bad ass and adds a ton of narrative to an otherwise "coinflip" situation.

It only took about 10 minutes...

Biggest take away: NFL players live the exact life I assume they did.

You missed Minnesota and Wisconsin, North Carolina/South Carolina, Oregon/Washington...and so on.

I think we have a lead on Lloyd Christmas....

I think Lou and Larry both deserve to get in as well.

Edgar should be a no brainer, but of course he won't because the majority of the BBWAA hold some weird grudges against letting a primary DH in the hall of fame.

Is Donovan McNabb the best annoying commentator in NFL Network's History?

Yup, reminds me of how Johan got robbed of three straight Cy Youngs due to a bullshit Bartolo Colon vote.

Can't. Wait.

That fact that Jack Morris is tied with Colon on WAR, is all you need to know about how WAR is a good but not even close to perfect measurement. (I am actually a proponent of WAR overall)

You are still discounting him quite a bit by saying it was virtue of him "just being always around"

You say that by those metrics half of the guys that played in the 4 man rotation days should be in the HOF, but half of those guys certainly didn't end up in the top 35 for strike outs.

Martinez isn't a good comp at all, he doesn't come close to the threshold in Grey Ink, Hall of Fame Monitor or Standards.

My whole point was that Morris, though not a HoF (IMO) is certainly a lot better than 492nd overall (which was what you claimed when you only used one stat)

While I personally don't think he is a hall of famer (and this is coming from someone whose best memory as a kid was attending game 7 back in 91) there are plenty of other metrics that show he does have some claim towards getting into the hall.

The MAJORITY of players with excellent health histories don't suddenly just break down at age 33.

Nobody is debating that.

14th all time in OPS, right behind Dimaggio and Stan the Man.

No-brainer for the first ballot.

I'm sure it factors that in a bit, which is why it shows Cano as a 1.1 WAR player at age 40. However, A-Rod basically had zero real health issues the 7 or so years prior to the contract extension (155+ games a year more or less) so it made sense to assume he would stay healthy for the first several years of the

A-Rod is a bad example, he has had significant injuries since he signed that last contract, and even though I hate bringing up steroids and their impact, it's pretty undeniable that at least one point A-Rod was on the juice which very well could have inflated his numbers, not to mention the game is in a quite
