They'll be pulling in giant profits for months, and sure, they'll get stuck with some overvalued used cars, but overall they'll be making lots of profits.

I will admit that, about a year ago this time, I didn’t totally grasp how the economy worked in terms of dealers and used cars: They are all pretty much coming off leases, right?”

1st Gear: Mrs. Ghost and I are both pretty much constantly getting mailers, emails, and phone calls from dealerships trying to buy our cars.

The lack of understanding of the economy is really one of the qualities that shines through in most of Erik’s articles.

...I didn’t totally grasp how the economy worked...

He’s actually a great guy, as good of a guy as you’ll find among celebrities.

I’m at the stage in my life where being professionally mediocre is no longer a cardinal sin in my book. As far as we know Fieri hasn’t abused anyone, and he raised $25 million for laid-off restaurant workers. I think he’s earned the right to make and promote unappealing foodstuffs.

Sounds and looks delicious, but partial marketing fail. Hot Apple Pie Dog was right there. “What’s new dawg? Hot Apple Pie Dog! Apple Pie’s not new. Like this it is! (shows Product)“ cue further “who’s on first” style shenanigans. Will spend afternoon pondering how to ala mode this w/o the use of softserve.

Kinda taking away the whole ‘apple pie’ part of the equation there, tho. I’m not a fruit pie (non-zest division) person in general, but I’d give one a go straight up.

This keeps getting posted, “look at this wild thing..”.

Awwww shucks! That sure is wild! Okay then. See ya in 4 months! XD

Blue (liquor) laws are a particular and mostly local thing in the US. Though it’s pretty common for public drinking to be discouraged. That said, in a lot of (mostly rural) places it’s “illegal” and no one much cares. A lot of the rules have been changing over the last year too. There’s a lot of tourism where I live,

Yeah, the article talked more about ruggedness and capability way more than made sense for the issue of dangerous driving.

It’s hard to say how much advertising is to blame. Those nations also tend to have narrower streets, lower speed limits, more expensive gas, and just less driving in general. As well as licenses that are actually pretty hard to get compared to to the US

Public sector workers already have more protections than private sector through civil service laws. Reform the civil service laws if you think they don’t go far enough. Public sector unions are all about electing the friendliest officials who are in charge of them, and pay them the most, making it a gross circle jerk

I would classify this as overplaying your hand...

100% this.

This isn’t the first time he’s brought up that specific event, while ignoring that that the flight controllers did was totally illegal, and also ignoring that public sector unions are now obscenely powerful.
