Manual transmission helps too.
“What’s always worth spending extra money on? Is there something you will never cheap out on?”
“Honestly, for most drivers, you really don't need much more than that” isn’t a sentence that should be used in connection to something you're selling as a top end sports model.
300 hp in a vehicle the size of the Atlas?
OOOOORRRR they could have given us the effing GTI or R wagon with a manual transmission that we were all begging for. (And many of us would have bought from the dealer the week it was available.)
Thanks for the reply. I’d still feel safer with the propane bottle in a separate, vented compartment per RV industry standards. Check out Cody Townsend’s stove in his Sprinter for example...
There are definitely builds out there like that; also the famous manufacturers do it as well. The Dodge Promaster width is enough to just squeeze that size in, unless you are quite inexperienced and are just literally vertically tacking 3-4" of foam board on each side. Taking Winnebago as an example, the Revel, Solis,…
Wood is a lot easier to work with when everything has to be custom made, there wasn’t a single right angle in the van everything had a curve to it. Also the weight isn’t that much of an issue the van is rated for 8,600lbs GVWR and this only came in around 7400lbs fully loaded with all our gear.
Odd that they chose the medium roof version for this build, and no vent for the stove. I suppose if that was the best option available at the time, then I get it, but the extra headroom would make a lot of difference.
The creator of the X-Plane simulator, Austin Meyer, created an iPad app called Xavion, which sort of does just this. Input your weight and balance and give it a GPS signal and if you hit the Emergency button, it will calculate your glide range and is terrain aware enough to try and guide you back to a runway or a more…
Digging into this one a bit more, he ran out of gas. The 176 mile flight should have taken a little less than 2 hours and consumed around 12 gallons of fuel. This aircraft can hold about 26 gallons of gas maximum, so it should have been more than doable. VFR minimums would have been 15 gallons in the tank. Students…
@Jason - you are missing one critical problem - when you open the capsule door, Wally Funk will climb out and hand you your ass.
Harrison Ford approves this message.
“If you can walk away from a landing, it’s a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it’s an outstanding landing.”
