Caught at a nearby testing ground! Production ready 2019 WRX!!

I have also been finding myself bored with horsepower. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun for some hooning from time to time, but it unusable and unneeded for 90% of my life now. A car with good feel and somewhere between the mid 200-300hp range is more than enough.

This is a great balance of observation, sarcasm and grammar. Enjoyed reading it and hope you find a way to expand your writing.

What better way to combat natural price inflation with cars than to increase power output and total capability to go along with that price?

What’s a bad deal is having the BRZ/GT86 and Mazda Miata cost $30K+ when reasonably equipped and be slower than every other hot-hatch and sedan anywhere near that price range.

Also,

Oh yes, I have been wondering the same thing. I believe they will use another benchmark eventually, but what? It’ll still be a number, and they will have to spend exorbitant amount of money to psychologically try to convince us of this.. Will it work? Meh... Give me a 700hp naddy 2.5L car that weights 1500lbs wet with

I don’t think there’s any way I could agree more with this. You are 100% spot on accurate.

Seriously, I had a WRX and never once thought to myself “I need more than this”. In fact, I very often thought to myself that I could have used less. There was never any situation on the road where I wasn’t holding back using

I came out of a 556 HP CTS-V and into a 450 HP Camaro SS, I do miss the extra 106 HP as the power in the Cadillac was much more useful. The Camaro I have to drop from 5 to 2nd gear if I really need to pull, and in the Cadi I could drop from 5th to 4th and have plenty of power. The CTS-V also just seemed more tame at

There’s definitely a point where you’ve got way more to use on public roads than you’ll ever need. I’m not sure what your 240HP is in, but my DD (at 4,800 pounds) has 365HP and 350TQ and sometimes I wish for more. I suspect anything over 500HP or TQ would be wasted and frankly half of that is “enough” to move it

Depends if Trump manages to get CAFE 50+ mpg knocked down or not. If it sticks (and many states, led by California, are promising to keep it intact regardless of the EPA) then engineering focus WILL shift to efficiency over raw power, at some point soon. But electrification may affect the balance of priorities, too

Mine is right around 300hp turbo, 360hp N/A (altitude sucks). @ 3200 lbs or so. That’s the sweet spot. Plenty of power when you want to do that, but not overwhelming. My ZL1 feels like too much at times. My 350Z felt a bit weak at times.

There’s no Porsche 911 like a pre-1972 Porsche 911.

I have 240hp/tq and I never think, “I need/want more.”

Maybe I’m just getting old

You literally can’t use it unless your breaking the law or on a track. But that goes for literally 90 percent of high powered sports cars nowadays.

Power and torque is addicting. Once you go down a certain path, you go down the rabbit hole. Impluse buy a Viper, and realize you need ABS in your life. Sell. Enjoy 333hp, add boost and enjoy it more. Realize its unreliable and not worth the headache. Buy Miata. Enjoy but realize you miss torque. Buy another Viper

I agree with you. I find myself pushing cars that have the least power the most. At a certain point this power increase needs to stop. My belief is that we are getting near it, kinda like what happened in the 70's.

Using the valet key for a more fulfilling driving experience on public roads will become a thing.

That’s why Porsche has “so many” models. Once it displays socially unacceptable performance, they create a new model. Start from the basics in every dynamic. Repeat.

It’s gonna happen. Unfortunately, the Sport Chrono Pack will cost $50,000, and according to the Porsche loyalists, it will be the ONLY one to have, because the 1,000 hp 911 without the Sport Chrono Pack is LAME.

More like a 1000 Hp Toyota Yaris.
