I recently drove a fully restored example and I have to admit, it was surprisingly one of the greatest cars I’ve ever driven. The shifter feel was unlike anything. You simply don’t know “direct gear changes” until you’ve driven one of these.

Sure, but more isn’t necessary. The car has plenty of power if you feel like getting into trouble and the linear torque delivery makes normal speeds feel effortless. What more do you need in a daily driver?

Call me Captain Slow, because I’m plenty content with my measly 240hp/240tq North American market E36 M3. Just 62k miles on the odometer and it pulls through the range with smooth linear power.
