Looking at the linked article, it appears that this exploit can work if you just rename an ACE archive so it has the *.rar extension, since WinRAR “detects the format by the content of the file and not by the extension.” So the end user wouldn’t even necessarily know that they were opening an ACE archive.

Totally agree with your assessment. I stuck it out to the end, and thought it was pointless, as well.

I quite liked A Star Is Born, but I wish the 2nd half was more like the 1st half — things got rather melodramatic towards the end. The first part, though, was rather joyous, and I thought Gaga was fab in the role.

That’s a great idea. I have a convertible computer desk setup and don’t use it standing as much as I probably should, mostly because it’s hard to stand in one place for too long, so it seems like this would definitely alleviate that. However, even discounted, that’s a lot pricier than it should be for what’s

I’ll admit the bit in the article recommending you don’t use soap to clean your ass was rather concerning. A lot of you must have flies following you around everywhere you go...

A number of years ago, after a few previous years of getting very close to the point of road rage in heavy traffic, I made a conscious decision to just “ease off”, and allow a lot more space than necessary between myself and the car ahead of me. This means looking several cars (or sometimes dozens of cars) ahead, to

Agreed. I own an espresso machine (recently broken — sad face emoji), a stovetop espresso maker (too much trouble), a drip coffee maker (for when I have guests over who require a lot of coffee), and a French press. Since my espresso machine died I’ve used the French press for my daily fix. I also worked as a barista,

I think the “don’t mistake this for something mean” usage is perfectly reasonable. I use it that way a lot myself, and am glad that others do, as well, when I’m chatting with them. Especially if you don’t know that other person well. Chatting with my family members or close friends, I’d never do that, because they

I had a friend who responded to one of my emails with:

Counterpoint: Episodes is one of the best comedies of the past 30 years (or perhaps, ever).

Y’all are crazy. This spot was brilliant and awesome, and the next time I’m shopping for ice cream, I’m going to seriously consider this brand, because if they’re putting that much artistry into their commercials, imagine what they’re doing with the actual product! ;-)

Exactly.

Good info that I wasn’t aware of. But I’m amazed at the idea of moving a glass from warm water to cold water to hot water... seems like a good way to shatter glass — unless perhaps all quality beer glasses are tempered? (Though I had a Pyrex measuring cup break on me once when I switched from hot to cold liquid right

All I have to say is: the entire world has gone mad when a $700 PHONE is considered a “great deal”.

I struggle with this issue — although my problem is not in speaking ill of another, but rather in vocalizing what I perceive at the time to be positive additions to the conversation. An example would be: during shared highly emotional experiences with friends or family, I often found myself breaking the silence and

It’s possible that some of those shrooms were not psilocybin but rather regular mushrooms laced with PCP. Apparently those are passed off as the real deal quite frequently.

Re the “sensitive stomach” comment: I had come to expect (and accept) a bout of nausea as part of the process of the trip, but some years ago a friend turned me on to a solution that has worked quite well. When you’re dosing, take some Immodium or other OTC anti-nausea medicine, and you should get through it without

Yeah, I always tell first-timers: make sure you’re in a good place before you start — and I mean that both geographically and emotionally. (That sort of goes for alcohol consumption as well, I’ve found. No point in altering your mind if you’re not feeling well in any way.)

Anything with music is usually good. I remember two different occasions where I gained new appreciation for old films: the first one was Woodstock (1969), and the other was the original The Music Man.
