How dare you insult this "community". They clearly have a lot at stake here. These records will go down in all time. In a hundred years, school children will talk of this speed run of a zelda game.
I'm so sick of hearing people say the subscription model is dead. No it is not. Many subscription games have failed, but they failed for literally dozens of other reasons, not because they were subscription based.
No, not for Elder Scrolls Online mainly because I am inclined (although I'd happily be proven wrong) to believe that it is going to be another generic, stale, and boring MMO.
It's kind of like jumping the walls on Mario Kart 64 on Warios track to win or get the best time. I agree this is lame... If you're going to do a speed run then do it within the defined rules of the game, not the exploits or glitches.
Who cares...fun is relative. His fun is different from your fun.
I once bugged directly to the final boss's death animation in hudson's Adventure Island III on NES.
What Darth Stewie is saying is, using glitches lets you skip most of the game, so saying you "beat the game" using glitches and tricks is not true.
For me, I prefer this kind of stuff. I mean, the glitches and tricks are no easy feats.
There are 100% speedruns for those who prefer seeing the whole game.
Pathetic isn't it. Give me a real speed run or I don't care at all about your videos, and in effect your place on this planet.
Eh, just think of it this way: they've taken the game, and made another game out of it. People always invent all kinds of variants on games. If you have a record for beating (game) under (conditions), then you just have the record for that.
Sorry I worded that badly. You shouldn't not post because you disagree, you should refrain from posting because you're uneducated about the topic and you're not adding anything to the discussion. It would be like me walking into the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and saying "I don't think the winner's result is…
Lindblom, if you read these comments, you should know good and well that your work on this game was loved and appreciated by one of the most diehard, dedicated fanbases the gaming industry has ever seen. The fact that it is doing so well now on the Virtual Console is proof enough of how much good word had built up…
It's stories like these that make me glad to come to Kotaku. Thank you for sharing this with us, Jason.
I love these back stories. Makes me want to play through the game again.
I agree. It's like saying you won Monopoly in 10 minutes by making sure no one else got any money. What's the point? You cheated your way to victory.
I like watching them, but also agree that it's somewhat like racing a mile, but running across the field instead of around the track. You finish faster, but don't actually run the mile. Additionally, I get that there are different types. I don't see an issue with a get there anyway you can speed run. You just cant…
Then you shouldn't be a part of speedrunning. If you can't understand that what he is doing took more than just 20 minutes than you are just showing the people who actually know something about speedrunning how ignorant you are about the subject. There is absolutely no "cheap recognition" here. Cosmo is one of the…
I agree. This is like jumping from the 1st page in a book to the last and calling it "speed reading"
Sure. Similarly, if I sat down to play chess with someone and they picked up all the pieces, juggling them simultaneously then throwing them all perfectly into place into a position where I'm checkmated, that might be harder to pull off than actually beating me at chess. I still wouldn't say that they beat me at…
