Absolutely. Near the end of its lifespan, and even into the N64 era, a first party or “premier” 3rd party SNES game (like SF Alpha 2 or Marvel Superheroes: War of the Gems) went for $60 ($116.00 in today’s money). Most PS1 games were $40. PS1 owners typically had far larger libraries than N64 gamers in my experience.

A “buck” more than vinyl records? If only. In those days vinyl was typically 7.98 vs CDs 13.98 and up. the scam was intense.

Music. Hope that helps.

I don’t personally feel that “enjoyability” is an important factor.
I mean, it can be argued that SOMEONE will find these games fun, for whatever personal reason... but even with that argument, I still don’t think it should matter.

If a game has existed publicly at any point, and someone has been able to play that game,

I’m sorry my take bored you. I’m a middle aged man with kids, a demanding jobs, and other hobbies and responsibilities that take up my time. Hearing that a game takes a bazillion hours to complete kind of bums me out, but I also grew up in an era when everyone actually finished every game because they weren’t that

She opened every Tropes vs. Women video with the same line:

There’s plenty of old shovelware games for classic consoles too.

idk 15 years is a great run, I’d consider this pretty successful

I would frame it more as just that this work is a bit exhausting in general (even if, as we’ve noted, this work was pretty much feminism 101 work) than her being bullied out of it; I don’t want to diminish the harassment, as it was awful, but I think she’s also right in that it’s okay for her to say this particular

I won’t lie, I’ve been tempted to try it. I enjoy the batshit writing of bad movies so I suspect I’d enjoy the batshit writing of bad games. But often the bad writing in bad games is accompanied by awful gameplay. And that I can’t abide.

Oh snap, we’re getting another Trine? That’s great! I’m looking forward to a bunch of these. I wish there was an option for 15 to 20 hour versions of Baldur’s Gate and Starfield. The “This will take you 300 hours” thing is a deterrent for me. Just like there are one-shot D&D campaigns, I wish I could get a one-shot

...and the dirt bike (self-explanatory)

And if you took an obvious joke so seriously you may have a problem detecting them?

Feels like the only news I’ve heard of this game is that it will have some highly intricate fuck simulation — and depending on who you ask that may not be a good sign.

I am surprised Blizzard cares for a game that you buy upfront.  They got everyone’s money already.

you are confidently clueless, you love to see it

Lots of things feel comfortable but look terrible or are inappropriate in certain places. Pajamas feel great, but I wouldn’t wear them outside my home.

We’ll never do this kind of patch again,” says dev studio after the thousandth patch of said type drops. "We'll be more open with our process," the studio added in a similarly-numbered promise it expected to be forgotten in a week.

I feel like it’s a silly rule, but I get it. Crocks make you look like trash. White, hood, or otherwise

Balan Wonderworld is actually a nice little game that got too much flak for what it is not instead of what it was doing.
