I am An Old and was a teenager in the 80s and I regret absolutely none of my sublime musical choices. I’m still proud of the fact that I was the first person in my school to get into The Smiths, thanks to KROQ. And although most of my musical tastes were pretty eclectic, again thanks to KROQ, I did and still do crave

I was that weird girl in school who was obnoxiously obsessed with a bunch of bands most people had never heard of and not in any kind of way that made me a cool girl. But it worked out pretty well for me. My husband and I hated each other at first and then bonded over our CD collections. 13 years later we still spend

I never pretended to like bands to impress any guys but I definitely THOUGHT I liked some bands that in retrospect I think suck, largely because guys I dated were into them. And I definitely pretended to like some local bands that guys I thought were hot were in.

How does one not like Garbage???

I met him once in NYC, he was super nice, but also spacey in that Dave Matthews sort of way. Exactly what you would expect him to be like.

I fucking LIVED for these. When I was in middle school my greatest joy was reading this column, and I still remember finding a stack of old Seventeens in my aunt’s house from the last decade and flipping back to read this column. Fuck, these illustrations are provoking a visceral reaction, I feel like I’m 12 again.

OMG teen/high school romances.

I wonder if “Peter” reads Jezebel and is all “oh Kelly is pretty smart and awesome!”

‘Violent, transnational gangs like MS-13 take advantage of cities and states that shelter them in order to smuggle in drugs, recruit school children to join, and pillage and plunder our communities.’

Bad hair is a family tradition?
