The usage of previous ROW in the peninsula region up to San Fran is not really a critical issue. They were never going to run at faster than 125 mph there, and upgrading the ROW there was planned from the start to have the system run with CalTrain.
I've already commented in this thread why CAHSR has literally no similarity to Acela other than both being electric-powered things with wheels that run on rails. I don't want to spam this thread up and repost stuff, so just read that comment.
Maglev is insanely expensive. Is it futuristic? Oh yes. It would be awesome, but as of now only the only long-distance maglev line (there's test tracks and the airport line in China) soon to be under construction is the Chuo Shinkansen in Japan, and that won't be operational for another ten years at best. Wheel/rail…
We already know what high speed rail is. Please use Google and take a walk of out the USA USA USA bubble. It's been working in Japan for over 50 years, France 30, Germany 20, and even China has been able to make it work (though it involved buying the technology from others and cutting corners and IP theft...).
The reason for the Acela fail is mostly old infrastructure on an old ROW. CAHSR will do the advertised speeds since it's built specifically for it, with proper grade separation, power systems, rolling stock and curve radii. CAHSR will also have proper high-speed rail rolling stock, whereas Acela had the FRA (run by…

Luizzi had a fun spill (among others) in that race; really was a crazy start to a race.
Well I think the point is just to have it be smoother overall, not to blow away people with the fraction of a second improvement.
Maybe not, but she might need some new knees. And hips. And feet. And maybe a new heart.
It could work...if they reinforce the shit out of the chassis and (unlike when VW did with their W12-powered Golf) actually properly develop the brake and suspension set-ups to make it drivable. It could be like a Group B rally car. Well, not really, but close enough.
I still don't get why Jalopnik is so hostile to Tesla. No shit, they want their big car launch to go smoothly. They could just let Jalopnik review it and give it 1 star because "IT DOESN'T HAVE AN ICE." Chill out. What the hell, do you think every reviewer is going to go balls out and drive it 300 miles?
Appropriate.
Aaaaand, the iFans swarm in.
Don't throw in logic, it'll ruin the narrative.
Eh, it's been done.
That's not a hipster, that's a generic "Yeah, bro" douche. Hipsters wear nut-hugging jeans, smelly old "vintage" tees, lumberjack beards and nerd glasses.
Glenn Beck is an A's fan?
