This isn't an irrational fear. Strong magnets, probably just Samarium and Neodymiums, can induce eddy currents in the conductive portions of flash storage. If you do get that, the currents will wipe your storage. I work for a company that uses a ton of these magnets (and big ones- 2x2x3 inch 52MGO Neodymiums) and

I got an OCZ Agility 3. Did a fair bit of research because I'm a bit of a wonk, and that one was a great compromise high performance reasonable cost. It's a SATA III Drive so I can take it with me if I ever do upgrade. The exact one I got is here:

I had the same conundrum and ended up just getting the SSD and I can tell you it's the best upgrade I've ever made, even with SATA II. You'll absolutely notice the difference.

The cheapest Asus Zenbook is about $650. My personal preference is to have as light and portable a laptop as I can afford, even around the house. The zenbook is an excellent machine and even if you don't spring for one of the SSD versions, it's an amazingly capable computer in an attractive, light, nice to use

I also worked with a jeweler to design a custom engagement ring for my wife- they offered the option of no-cost layaway. I made monthly payments via credit card on the ring for about a year before I proposed. There was a "suggested" amount per month to pay off the ring in the time alotted, but I would typically add

Wait, so the question really should be: Is it more immoral to buy Apple products than the other myriad products we buy from China probably made under slave-labor conditions, just because we're moderately more cognizant of their provenance?

Question about soundbars: I have a TV with an excellent picture and decent sound, but the housing will rattle at higher volumes, especially bassy bits. I also have a terrible space for sound and zero room for a proper surround system. If I hook up a soundbar, can I prevent my TV from using its own speakers to avoid

Clearly you just don't understand the subtleties of GM engine naming. The 1970 engine, of course, was the LT-1, which makes it TOTALLY DIFFERENT from the LT1 of the nineties. Punctuation, people! I bet you can't even tell the difference between an LT1 and an LT1. See?

My dad had a Christmas mug when I was a kid that had a little santa in the bottom just like these (it was my favorite mug- I always tried to get it for myself). Appropriate mixing could be achieved (at least with the standard sugar+cream) just by mixing at the top of the cup instead of going all the way to the bottom

Here it is on a non-Grand Sport car.

Lots of lovely Corvette colors, but my vote goes to Admiral Blue. Most widely known for its use on the 1996 Grand Sports, it had been available since 1994. It's a stunning color in person, incredibly deep with just the right amount of red. Photos almost don't do it justice, but I tried to grab a bright one.

Glad someone posted this. Was on my way to link it but I see you're way ahead of me. Pitch perfect.

Not unless you ferment it first. You've never had mulled cider?

You got to go Oktoberfest (aka Marzen) or spiced Pumpkin Ale, IMO. If it's a alcohol-free party, go with hot mulled cider.

THIS. A thousand times THIS. No one has ever rented or purchased a home that came with ceiling fans that didn't also come with the instruction manuals for every appliance in the house. That has never happened ever! How can people be so stupid?

Yup. Everyone purchases their home with every manual to included appliances. I'm pretty sure that's a law.

Because in this case, as often happens, the cheaper simpler solution of pulling your suitcase along with you is actually the better solution. It's easy, and there aren't many times I'm out with a suitcase full of my belongings that I don't want my hand on it.

You keep using that word, Touchscreen. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I bought one on woot for $50 plus $5 shipping, total impulse buy. "How bad can it be for fifty bucks?" It really is useless, though. It makes me angry to think about using. I, however, haven't been able to work up the balls to try and sell it to another person yet.

Looks a fair bit lower than the current C6. Those things ride way higher than people think.
