Yeah, the coverage here is absolutely abysmal. Engadget has much more coverage on this event and not random, non-tech stories about some "Dickhead Dad" playing swords with his daughter...

The reason free alternatives aren't well known is because they can't spend billions of dollars to shove products in your face telling you that you need to own said product.
