As I have written before, my daughter died when she was five in 2011, two months after being diagnosed with an inoperable and malignant brain tumor. There is no cure for her type of tumor - DIPG - and current treatments do little more than extend life for a few months.

I would never give up fighting for the life of one of my children, rational or not. I don’t think there are any bad guys here, this is just really, really sad.

In order to volunteer at any of the schools in our school district, you have to fill out an application which includes permission for them to do a background check. I am of the hope that ‘former serial killer’ would preclude someone from volunteering.

Helicopter parenting is bad and you can’t shelter them from bad stuff in the world too much but I feel like “I don’t want my children interacting with a known serial killer” is a fairly reasonable request?

As we know more about her, her brand looks more and more tacky. Tweeting about champagne popsicles on Memorial Day? Tacky. Photo of herself in a ballgown with her baby-faced huckster of a husband’s hand on her ass? Tacky. Daddy is tacky, Stepmommy is tacky, her ghost-written book is tacky. Setting herself up with an

I’ve only ever seen her stuff at places like Marshalls or TJ Maxx or on amazon. Before all this trump president fever dream nightmare, I sort of equated her brand as slightly down market than Jessica Simpson (I will admit to owning more than few Jessica Simpson dresses).

Is Darrell Issa having a breakdown? Calling the reporter unprompted and then hanging up on him is suuuuper weird.

Prachi, the statistic about divorces is interesting, but i do think divorce is so heavily stigmatized in India especially for women that it is not seen as a viable choice at all. I think patriarchal pressure exists in multiple forms in Indian culture before and after marriage and walking out on an abusive or an

One thing I feel like is missing from these comments and the article. Is that the sculpture was pushed as “part playground.” Can you imagine installing a replica of a Nazi crematorium in the same way and not consulting any Jewish groups?

I hope when my children are in their thirties, they will know that their mother and I value each of them more than one percent each.

Ugh, why do I remember Kim k saying she knew way before the wedding to Kris H that she should not have married him but they already had the rights sold to broadcast the wedding special.

Because those people neither care or understand it, they just don’t want change that impacts their own view of reigning dominance in their stories and views that represents them.

But then I remember all that is just a smokescreen for racism and sexism.

This is the part I don’t get. When ‘anti-diversity’ people complain about ‘forced diversity’ and prattle on about the ‘sanctity of art’ and ‘censorship’ and all that...does it escape them entirely that diversity in terms of perspective means diversity in terms of storytelling?

Now playing

I know! It’s so crazy (and by that I mean not crazy at all) how those little cookie-cutter stereotypes Hollywood forces not-cis-straight-white-guys into don’t actually represent real people.

Agreed. There is no reason other than the industry leads simply dont’t want it to be different. I hate to keep reading people who claim to want diversity, but they settle in with the industry approved lie: ‘diverse casts don’t make money.’ For every one ‘diverse’ film which doesn’t totally crush, there have to be 50,

People want to see new and fresh, not the same tired and old boring stories

Also, with added diversity, there are different stories being told from different views and different styles.

She’s so right: more diverse storytellers weaving their tales leads to more diverse stories and more diverse characters. It’s a richer, more authentic fabric.

One thing that continually bugs is the way press will ask Ava duvernay or Ryan Coogler or other black and female directors about diversity in hiring and casting. Why are you asking the people who are doing the work? Why not ask Wes Anderson, sofia coppola, the cohen brothers, and so many others about why they can’t
