My parents are pretty much agnostic (they baptized me into the Catholic Church just to make my grandmother happy, but stopped going to church when I was 6) and i’m an atheist and we still celebrate Christmas and Easter, just the more secular traditions from them. So pretty much eating cookies, exchanging gifts, Easter

Same here. Devon is already not that common of a name, and then combining that with a Spanish last name seems to be very unusual. So far, I’m still the only the person with name on Facebook at least.

Cool! Yeah, so my program is largely focused on looking at all of the social and behavioral determinants that affect health and access to healthcare, so i’ve taken classes on research design for the social sciences, social and economic determinants of health, evaluation of health programs, etc. And within that I want

I’m in a 2 year master of public health program focusing on sociomedical sciences with a certificate in sexual and reproductive health. What programs are you applying to?

Depending on how bad it is, you still might be able to eat some things if you take lactaid beforehand! My sister and dad are both lactose intolerant and they can’t drink straight up milk at all, but they can still have ice cream and everything else if they take lactaid.

I’m officially done with my first year of grad school. I loved it, but I was so ready to finish my last paper. Now I just need to lock down an internship, either by hopefully getting an offer from at least one of the places I interviewed this past week, or by begging my boss to give me a more research focused project

Right, like he doesn’t make it known that much, but he was sure to make it known when he could use it against Wendy Davis.

I stood outside the theater for the lottery once before they moved it over the digital platform, and I can definitely see why 1) they made the lottery digital and 2) they updated the cancellation policies, because the crowd outside of the theater was insane and the people who worked there constantly had to yell at

If you live close enough to New York that you could get to the theater within a few hours time, you could always try doing the digital lottery on a day when you don’t have many plans, so on the off chance you win, you only have to pay $10 for a ticket. I haven’t won the lottery yet, but I was lucky enough to see

Maybe this just shows how pessimistic I normally am when it comes how police officers treat people of color, especially those with mental illnesses, but I was pleasantly surprised that this ended with the guy not being injured or killed by law enforcement. :/

My (formerly?) hot friend from grad school shaved off his beard last week because he supposedly had a shaving accident and i’ve been trying to hide my disappoint for the past week. Especially since I strongly suggested for the sake of his sex life that he never shave it off again after he did it for his Halloween

Oh geez! I’m sorry that happened to you. Yeah, the reason I found myself in this debate was because I attended a lunch seminar on transgender issues in healthcare that was mostly geared toward how med students should treat trans patients. I’m not a med student, but a lot of the ones there mentioned how their

I had some med student try to debate with me today because I’m wearing a “Health is a Human Right” shirt, and yeah, on the one hand, having access to healthcare doesn’t mean someone will necessarily be healthy, but like, still, everyone should have the right to be able to do what they can to be healthy. I’m still kind

Right?! I was so jealous when my family was posting Facebook statuses about getting free coffee last year.

Sadly true, even though Mia being unstable would have probably just made it even easier for Woody to get away with sexually abusing Dylan. =/

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I walked past Mark Ruffalo a few years ago, but I was running late to something so I didn’t bother with trying to get his attention or anything. I did Google his wife later though, to make sure she was the woman he was walking with and had his arm around (pretty sure it was her) because I’m still

My friends from school and I have joked about starting a cult so we could pay off our student loans. Obviously, we wouldn’t do that, because we’re not terrible people, and even though we’re desperate for money, I don’t think any of us are narcissistic enough to be able to successfully run a cult.

One of the regrets I have after leaving my job at a women’s shelter was not telling my boss that she should take the number for a CPC out of our list of community resources for the clients. Granted, whenever a client did have an unplanned pregnancy, my coworkers and I always just referred them to Planned Parenthood

What Tina said. Just give them a letter or an email. My shitty boss did the same thing to me last year, and it got to the point where I just had to send her an email so that I wouldn’t like a jerk who didn’t give enough notice before quitting. And yeah, keep it nice even though you don’t like your boss. And CC HR and

So far, i’ve been able to be productive enough during finals week that i haven’t had to rush and finish things at the last minute (we’ll see how much longer that lasts). Also, I got offered a TA position for the fall semester!
