I think it’s good the case was thrown out but it does set a dangerous precedence. The couple was mostly upset because they wanted both their kids to have the same father, which is something that goes beyond race. Future couples now have to be wary and the sperm bank should be held accountable for that.

Had we not got away from this idea that gamers all have to wear heavy metal t-shirts and live in basements? I’ve got a Titan in my PC but I still attempt to dress well because... well just because you’ve got a GPU doesn’t mean gaming is your entire freaking life.

PS : Trilby’s do not count as attempting to dress well.

I completely agree with you. I spend a lot of time with people of the 40+ age group, and for the most part they’re incredibly progressive and I’m proud to call them my friends.
And then something about trans rights will come up, and they’ll start misgendering people left and right and saying “I just don’t understand”.

I agree with you and I’m not shy about confronting transphobia. Perhaps I didn’t express myself correctly, my point was that trans rights seems to be a blind spot to certain lefties and that needs to be addressed. And maybe cool isn’t the right term, I’ll say that the current pope is less hateful than his

it was not giving his wife some time to herself too to reciprocate.

I grew up watching the original Muppet Show and have recently gone back and watched several of the episodes. You know what I found? There is all sorts of ‘adult’ material in the original, but you know what, I didn’t understand any of it as a kid. Why? Because I didn’t have the requisite knowledge needed to understand

“Every fucking nerd in the world would cut off an ear for the chance to drool over a chick who rocks at League or whatever.”

> ...that has nothing to do with “sexism”. Every fucking nerd in the world would cut off an ear for the chance to drool over a chick who rocks at League or whatever.

Your friend is right. My family swings by Lambert’s on every road trip. I got hit by an airborne roll gone astray once, and the only result was an extra roll for me and a good laugh for my dad (they’d been aiming for someone at the table next to us).

Because firing medical staff any time they make a mistake makes people cover up their mistakes which leads to more harm. Unless there’s a trend of incompetence, firing people for even large mistakes, if they aren’t part of a pattern, results in people not reporting their errors. Also, often nurses are the front line

Not a single animal that is at SeaWorld is releasable, other than the ones they rescue for the purpose of rehabilitation and release. Look at NOAA guidelines, they are very specific about what criteria an animal must meet to be returned to the wild.

Its women’s empowerment because it benefits me is basically what modern feminism is

I mean, I feel like the best way to take these games, whether they were or are intended as such, is to consider them episodic. I never hear any backlash against Telltale series or Life is Strange, or even Broken Age. I know intent is a big part of it for some, but their short, cheap chapters of what has evolved into a

... and?

he’s making games for the people who want his games, not for people who don’t want his games. see also: literally anyone who makes anything.

Because he shows up at my house and forces me at gunpoint to buy every game!

Thank you. It was a long time ago, now, but apparently still shakes me up.

I knew a girl who hid her pregnancy until delivery. I don’t know what she would have done if the pain of labor hadn’t driven her to seek medical help but I seriously doubt she would have turned the baby over to a safe location (anonymously or not). I don’t even want to imagine where the baby would have ended up.

I think it’s likely that she simply had no idea that dropping the infant off was even an option. Shame-based culture has a way of suppressing that type of info - I live in a place with the same drop-off laws, and I didn’t know it for years. I’m confident that a good 95% of the people around me don’t know it still.

Which is why I’m personally thinking she probably was dealing with a mental crisis about the pregnancy — people in crisis don’t necessarily act logically, especially young women who are in denial about being pregnant at all. Contraceptives fail, women who have sex are stigmatized, young women who get pregnant out of
