you are correct! we get a ten day temporary sticker when buying a used car. I was pulled over once after buying a car, the cop wanted to make sure I didn’t just have a blank piece of paper there.

When I was younger... I got pulled over for window tint. Heck, the town of Tonawanda made me come back and show it was fixed, or I was going to be arrested! True story-

What state are you adjacent to? Heck, what city do you cross into? We have different laws per each state. Don’t like the laws in your state, lobby to get them changed or move too a state where they are to your liking... We are a federation as is Canada. I’m sure you know different provinces have different laws also.

That’s why you go to a reputable shop, do a pre-inspection self inspection, and go before your sticker is out of date so it doesn’t get scraped. Seriously, if you just maintain your car, you’re good.

I can say here in NY they actually remove your tires to visually inspect your brakes. Every last exterior light must work, every part of your suspension is scrutinized, and a whole ton of other stuff. Heck, you can get failed if your wipers leave streaks. If your cousin Louie owns the shop, another story...
