You’re forgetting the underlying reason why nobody is making a huge fuss about it. There’s regulations that require a certain number of home grown players be on the team. ie: A certain number of players on the roster have to be from the team’s region. Look up the “home grown player rule.”

The Dodgers are not a home team. There’s almost no such thing as a home team in the MLB or any other major US sport. You’re lucky to have one or two people from the team’s city. One or two people from the city does not make it a home town team. Having a stadium in the location does not make it a home town team.

The concept of battle royale has been around for over ten years in video games. Call of Duty is the first instance I can think of. PUBG just made the matches larger. The execution between PUBG and Fortnite are indeed very similar, but the PUBG doesn’t get to claim ownership of battle royales.
