The Kinetic wasn’t just for games and plenty of people used it in interesting ways completely separate from video game consoles. It still died horribly (as it didn’t have any right not to, it was terrible and we know it.)

The graveyard is the exact direction VR is heading in its current state. It’s just a glorified set with little monitors, essentially a gimmick. VR is not going anywhere significant if you have to wear a headset, it’s just going to die an inglorious death.
