Unpopular opinon: I actually want a remake of this. I’m sick of vampires and Frankenstein. Actually, it always has been. All you have to do is slap a copyright symbol and a date on something when you publish it, and it’s automatically copyrighted. Registering said copyright with the Library of Congress is another thing altogether though.
