If we put aside any general argument over whether or not guns should be legal and also make some extremely speculative assumptions that this guy did own a gun legally, and he was being “carjacked”/assaulted by McKnight, I mean...I don’t blame him. If some guy runs up to my car at a light because I accidentally cut him

This. Thank you.

You could have spent 10 seconds looking up Louisiana law on the subject and seen that there is a presumption of reasonableness under circumstances that very well may be at play here.

No, the investigation is to determine a crime occurred or not. You don’t charge people just to charge them. The court’s purpose is to allow the defendant to challenge the charges against them and the state to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yeah I see that too. Kind of hard to “yank the driver out” from the passenger side, but if he opened the door or reached in the passenger window, the presumption would probably still apply.

“Regardless, even if that particular witness’ claims are factually incorrect, the bottomline is the motherfucker shot an unarmed man standing in the street. That is a crime.”

I just read up on this statute. It was pretty controversial when it passed, evidently. Pro Tip: don’t open someone else’s car door in Louisiana in anger. It’ll be the last thing you will do.

I’m telling the truth but I don’t know how accurate the second-hand information I’m relaying is. I trust the source but I’m an anonymous commenter named peepeedoodoo sooooooooo...

I posted another comment but yes, it was added to the “no retreat” statute:

Yeah I’m not saying there isn’t a double standard. I seriously doubt JPSO would have let out a black guy who shot a white guy under the same circumstances, at least until a PC hearing.

My info was from this morning right after the release so probably to be taken with boulder of salt. There appear to be more witnesses now other than the one person who said something about Gasser standing over McKnight cursing at him before he shot him again.

I’m not saying I know this is what happened, I’m just passing on what the discussions were at the DA’s office. But reaching in the window and grabbing someone, or simply opening the doors to make entry into the vehicle, are probably both sufficient to trigger the presumption of reasonableness for deadly force.

“Sign of humanity. Number 59, defense. 15 yards from the spot of the foul. First down.”

1) What you’re saying has nothing to do with the fact the people tend to enjoy living under a set of laws. 2) Come on. Rioting? I’ve seen bigger riots after the Final Four. Read better websites.

Protests are part of civil disobedience, protected by law.

He’s doing it because unlike Dipshit Donald and his cabal of fascists, he actually gives a shit about the country and all the people in it.

Because Obama is a better man than America deserves. On the upside maybe this gives Obama a little influence. Maybe Trump sees him as a friend and in 3 months when he has to make some actual decisions maybe Obama is the one he calls for advice.

Probably because he absolutely knows it’s best for the country, including all those that voted for him. And he’s a decent person.

I think this pretty accurately sums up how I feel right about now.

“Although I’m sure his replacement would be almost as bad so it’s cold comfort at best.”
