I’m a Kevin Smith fan. I think he’s a real good guy. I do think CA is a bit dated, even though there are still a lot of Bankys.

The Gawkerverse has a really uncomfortable streak of building up and tearing down young (mostly white) famous women. I’ve always thought it disconcerting at the least, and overly woke posturing at the worst, all at the expense of real people where the punishment doesn’t really fit the alleged crime.
I agree. Last year, the Times put out a glowing article about Lin-Manuel Miranda’s infectious “earnestness” but she was put through the ringer for the same quality. I’ll admit to finding both of them cloying at some point, but I also think that’s a trait that is hard to keep in this world, and that industry, and they…
She had one too many good things happening and some people with internet access just couldn’t let that stand. I mean, an Oscar! Who the hell did she think she was?!
Anne Hathaway seems so nice and harmless; why did people hate her? Did I miss her being mean to kids or flipping off paparazzi or something?
That was weird. I also found it strange that the author tries to justify (at least a little bit) posting the invasive photograph in 2012 by saying that we as a culture didn’t wake up to how horrible stuff like this was until 2014. Ummmm, what? No, I’m pretty sure most of us knew well before then that it’s not OK to…
“Anne Hathaway was under no obligation to talk to me—in fact, given her feelings about Jezebel, she had good reason not to”
I briefly met Anne Hathaway ~11-12 years ago, in the lobby of the Trump Tower apartments of all places (I was visiting NYC, had a family member who lived there and her now-known shithead embezzler ex lived there too). I was a huge Princess Diaries fan and I was basically foaming at the mouth.
Man, you guys owe this woman a 50-page apology. I don’t know why anybody hates her— someone didn’t like the sincerity level of a speech she gave and that’s why so many years of public abuse and loathing? Or something? But she sounds 10x smarter & more self-aware & more gracious than any writer here, in any event.
She always seems super nice and her advocacy for LGBT+ and women’s rights is pretty damn awesome. I still don’t understand where the hate came from.
Never got the hatred focused on Anne Hathaway? I have always liked her. I have zero problems with her and have pretty much enjoyed all of her movies.
When I look at the female celebrities who seems to generate an inordinate amount of dislike I see a common factor in that they like themselves and refuse to pretend not to. JLo likes herself. Lea Michele likes herself. Anne Hathaway likes herself. There’s none of this “Oh, I’m such a dork. I’m just like everyone…
Probably not a popular opinion, but this show is comedic gold for me. I’ll only watch it when I’m sad or in a shit mood. I find the designs of the Titans incredibly silly, they make me laugh. Their designs juxtaposed with the more serious designs of the humans just cracks me up. This show, to me, is about super…
Aside from the unfairness of letting the public enforce the rules, this is the dumbest part. If you want to enforce a penalty, as dumb as it might be, fine. Then assess that penalty and move on. But this doubling up on every penalty due to the “incorrect scorecard” is ridiculous.
Agreed. She may not have deliberately done it, but “improper” ball marking has been the hallmark of petty golf cheats since the days of Bobby Jones, and I can totally see someone watching that like a hawk. But the scorecard penalty was bogus.
Especially when a rules official is walking with each grouping (assuming this is the same in the LPGA as the PGA) and that person (read referee of golf) did not notice the infraction at the time it happened.
Not quite. McCarthy hasn’t been playing for the Toffees because he’s been injured. He wasn’t fit to play. Koeman’s upset that O’Neill pushed him into duty when he wasn’t ready. He didn’t have plans to play him this weekend.
Everton pay his salary. Ireland doesn’t. Everton can lose millions of pounds if they miss out on European play. Ireland has no such concerns at this point.
Maybe the cheerleaders did something completely disgusting and amoral, like going to a restaurant with a married man.
Rumor has it the cheerleaders were also part of a pyramid scheme.
