But each of those 8 player servers takes less to run... Your analogy doesn’t really apply here, plenty of games have had dedicated servers and games with 16 or less players. Using one of the very few games that have player counts that high doesn’t make for a good comparison.

Well yeah, “playing whatever character I want” is literally the opposite of being “competitive” in this game.
