Those people are not buying new cars regardless of the price of gas.
$400 per year is $8 per week. I doubt most people would even notice the difference. Plus if gas prices hit $4 there would be plenty of people buying a Cherokee or Escape because they get better fuel economy than their current truck or SUV.
PC load letter! What the fuck does that mean?
To be fair, Steve Jobs also brought Apple to the brink of insolvency. Twice. Overall his personal record as a CEO is mixed. Jobs was really good at conceptualizing new concepts but really bad at product iteration.
You don’t have to have the cash in the bank but you do need to have a plan in place which requires coordinating with banks and other financial firms, getting contracts in place, and maybe even regulatory approval. Somebody out there should have heard about it.
If that many people are involved then *somebody* would know something about where the money is coming from. Bankers are not known for keeping secrets but nothing is out there even after the news broke.
Even the Saudis don’t have $10B just laying around, their money is mostly invested. In order to secure the funding the Saudis would have to move money around, sell assets, and generally show some activity in the finance industry. Banks and private equity funds should have some idea if the Saudis are moving on…
There are enough things done by drivers that do not involve the steering wheel that automation is not likely to replace them at all. More likely is that wages in that field will stagnate as barriers to entry, like a CDL, are removed for autonomous trucks.
LOL. If you were willing to put your money where your mouth is you’d spend that $5 on Tesla stock and take advantage of the $57 spread between the current price and the announced buyout price. Which, if people 100% believed Musk’s statements, shouldn’t exist. The stock price should have shot up to $420 almost…
I was gonna go private before I got high
I tweeted when I should have passed but I got high
Now I’m under investigation and I know why
‘Cause I got high
Because I got high
Because I got high
I’m not going to give you my paypal address, that’s stupid.
Do you realize how stupid that sounds on the internet? That only works with your friends. What are you going to do if you win, collect in person? Besides, I only bet in Bolivars.
The “if” is not if there will be a SEC investigation, it’s likely there will be an investigation. The “if” is, do Musk’s statements constitute a SEC violation? That’s a game you’re better off not playing and if Musk was as well versed in SEC regulations as you think he is, he would have thought this out more…
He said it was highly unusual and the SEC would likely investigate Musk’s statements, especially given the way Musk announced the buyout and Musk’s potential gains from the announcement. Musk doesn’t even have to deliberately misspeak about the funding, he could be completely telling the truth and still violate SEC…
Who do you think understands SEC requirements better, Elon Musk or former Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Harvey Pitt?
Have you seen Elons other tweets? I’m not convinced he planed this out in any way.
He might not intentionally lie but if his idea of “funding secured” is different then what the SEC thinks it means he could be in just as much trouble as if it was an outright lie.
Yes and no. The module doesn’t need to be replaced for a single overload but repeated overloads can cause the mosfet to overheat and fail, then you would need to replace the entire module. Dodge BCMs are known for this.
One thing that I didn’t see anyone mention is the scrap value of the car. The effective payout is the insured value minus the scrap value. If the scrap value is $20k that means the effective payout on a total loss on a $70k car is $50k.
