I know for a lot of people Christmas and Thanksgiving are the one or two nights a year they go see a movie with their family again, like when they were kids. I’m sure a lot of us have been at Thanksgiving where dinner has to be in the take by 2 PM because Grandma says so. So for a lot of families everyone is done

The problem isn’t that current movies are political- as you say, movies have always had political viewpoints.

The current problem is that they’re often just not very good movies, and it’s often because the people making them are more concerned with about the politics they’re trying to convey than they are with making a

Encanto was only a couple years ago.

Thing is, it is not that Herbert did not write strong female characters. Many of the strongest and most powerful characters in the books are female. Chani just isn’t one of them. She is important to Paul, but not really the reader.

Eff Netflix for doing this to Shadow and Bone. It was a great series and I would have liked to have seen them get through all the books. Now it’s just a Divergent situation.

Shadow and Bone is disappointing mainly because they had finally gotten to the best material from the books they were adapting. But holding the bulk of Six of Crows until the third season was always a risky move given Netflix’s propensity for killing shows off.

No words about Peter Dinklage’s performance?

Kinda surprised that that place is getting shuttered before this one; commentariat isn’t the only metric but it’s looked more lively there than it does here lately.

David Tennant’s Kilgrave is still the most legitimately terrifying and disturbing villain in all the MCU and adjacent properties.

He essentially pushed her into a life of crime, and may also have had something to do with her father’s death decades ago.

Being a hearing impaired person myself, I remember how pleased I was when “Cop Land” was released in ‘97. To my knowledge it was the first big movie where the hero - played by no less than Sylvester Stallone! - was a person with severe hearing loss without it being played for laughs. I got the same excitement when “Haw

Is this going to be Marvel’s Andor? Looks good so far.

Huh? I’m all for shitting on Barsanti but he didn’t write this review. Also, it sounds to me like the movie is pretty critical of their age gap.

I’ve assumed this would be a spiritual sister film to Sofia’s Marie Antoinette (barely legal young girl swept up in arranged marriage to royalty, and its discontents). I’m pretty excited to see Sofia’s take.

Form feet AND legs!
Form arms and...mmm, impressive torso!
And I’LL form...the perfect ASS!

OK, I seriously thought The Marvels came out this summer. Shows where I’m at, Marvel-wise.

Look at you. Changed your username, used the same stupid comment, and made your way out of the greys.

Decades after Elvis’s death, Pricilla still struggles to process how manipulative and abusive their relationship was for her. And that is not surprising considering how people still romanticize a relationship that started when she was 14 and he was 24. Her eldest child was from that union, Pricilla also has a son who
